Our Trabant 601 sedan was built in 1984 and left in a barn after the reunification. Engine and transmission were broken, the cockpit was eaten by mice. But there was hardly any rust! The car was worth saving after 25 years of standing. /// Unsere Trabant 601 Limousine wurde 1984 gebaut und nach der Wende in einer Scheune zurückgelassen. Motor und Getriebe waren kaputt, das Cockpit von Mäusen zerfressen. Aber es gab kaum Rost! Das Auto war es wert, nach 25 Jahren Standzeit gerettet zu werden.

In weeks of work, all defective parts were removed and replaced: Brakes including lines, suspension with all bearings, steering, engine, transmission, ignition system - and the interior. The instructions for this were available in old workshop manuals and on YouTube. /// In wochenlanger Arbeit wurden alle defekten Teile ausgebaut und erneuert: Bremsen inklusive Leitungen, Aufhängung mit allen Lagern, Lenkung, Motor, Getriebe, Zündanlage – und der Innenraum. Die Anleitungen dazu gab es in Büchern und Youtube.
Better than new /// Besser als neu
Many parts are now better than before: The engine was rebuilt and revised by Trabantwelt. It now has 30 hp and more torque. In addition, an electronic ignition and a stronger clutch are used and we have installed a new gearbox. /// Viele Teile sind heute besser als früher: Der Motor wurde von Trabantwelt neu aufgebaut und überarbeitet. Er leistet nun 30 PS und hat mehr Drehmoment. Außerdem kommen eine elektronische Zündung und eine stärkere Kupplung zum Einsatz und wir haben ein neues Getriebe verbaut.
